June 21, 2007 by chong85I am serving in children ministry in my church, and they have a “men and women” meeting yesterday to discuss about how to conduct the “men and women meeting” on 15 July for Pri 6 students. When i heard that Pri 6 students have BGR (boy girl relationship) problems sometime ago, i was shocked… They are so young and they have this problem already? Last time when i am in Pri 6, my classmates will talk about it but we seldom go out together. Now with the media and surrounding environment, they even went go to meet stranger from internet. Oh my goodness, do their parents know about it?
Actually i wanted to give it a miss, cause i think there are nothing important as they can’t do much at a young age. But lead me there with nothing else to do. I learn alot from the session and would like to share with you all.
The session really speak to me about my own problems… I am serving in the ministry but there are always this voice that say i am not contributing enough to the ministry. One of the teacher reminds me that we are together and we can talk to one another when we have problems. We are in a ministry that is important as this is the final stage in their primary school life before they go into another phase. We create values for them to let them know that they are worthwhile in this world. That is a an extremely great ministry to be in…
The second thing that stuck me is about obedience. The story goes like this: When one if the teacher was young, he once saw a parent and child on the bus. The child was jumping around, not sitting down, but the parent did nothing. suddenly, the bus break and the boy hit the metal casing (last time use to collect coins). When the teacher got of the bus, his mum told him that accident was not the driver fault, neither was the boy fault. It is the parent (who did not discipline the boy) fault. We should obey our parents as they can see further then us. Those who are not obedient are fearful, they fear of being control, so they do things against their parents. They fear of lack, so they certain things. They fear of no freedom, so they sneak out of house when their parents are not at house. They fear that their friends isolate them, so they learn smoking and what their friend is doing. I don’t know is it true for you, i find is quite true for me. (not smoking of cause) but most of the time we do something bad/ something that we are not suppose to do becasue we are fearful.
For the “men and women meeting” i find it interesting and looking forward to it. God is really doing things in our church. During the discussion, many problems surface out. kids are curious about their body and the opposite sex more and more early due to the influence of the media and environment. This also prevents BGR to distract them from concentrating in their PSLE. Not only will it discuss about BGR but most important it will discuss what they are in christ, so that they know their values and not do harm to their body.
Interested to see the kids discovering about themselves through the debate session to let them think about should they or not. The topics are:
- Should they start a relationship at such a young age
- Should they meet up with strangers online? What should you do?
Believe that will be awesome workshop

Today as i was sitting on the bus, i read a story that i think i could share with u.
Years ago, there was a poor man who wanted to travel from US to Europe. He worked hard, saved every extra penny he could, and finally had just enough to purchase a ticket aboard a cruise ship. the trip at that time required about two or three weeks to cross the ocean. He went out and bought a suitcase and filled it full of cheese and crackers. That’s all he could afford.
Once on board, all the other passengers went to the large, ornate dinning room to eat their gourment meals. Meanwhile, the poor man would go over in the corner and eat his cheese and crackers. This went on day after day. He could smell the delicious food being served in the dining room. He heard the other passengers speak of it in glowing terms as they rubbed their bellies and complained about how full they were, and how they would have to go on a diet after the trip. The poor traveler wanted to join the other guests in the dinning room, but he had no extra money. Sometimes he’d lie awake at night dreaming of the sumptuous meals the other guests described.
Towards the end of the trip, another man came up to him and said,” Sir, i can’t help but notice that you are always over there eating those cheese and crackers at mealtimes. Why don’t you come into the banquet hall and eat with us?”
The traveler’s face flushed with embarrassment. “well, to tell you the truth, i had only enough money to buy the ticket. i don’t have any extra money to purchase fancy meals.”
The other passenger raised his eyebrows in surprise. He shook his head and said, “Sir, don’t you realise the meals are included in the price of the ticket? your meals have already being paid for!”
When i first saw that story, it reminds me not to eat more cheese and crackers. How many people are similar to that naive traveler. They are missing out on God’s best for them because they don’t realise that the good things in life have already been paid for.
Everytime we shrink back and say, “Well, i can’t do it; i don’t have what it takes, ” we’re eating more cheese and crackers. Everytime we go around full of fear, worry, anxiety, or are uptight about something, we’re eating more cheese and crackers. So stop eating cheese and cracker. Start living with faith that goods things will happen to you. All the Best!!
How to find your purpose in life

A spider web story to share with you all
May 18, 2007 by chong85A young soldier found himself in a terrible battle during the Scottish Reformation. [I cannot remember the soldier's name or the exact date of the battle. I think it took place sometime between 1200 and 1400 AD.] The enemy was soundly defeating this young man’s army. He and his comrades found themselves hastily retreating from the battle field in defeat, running away in fear of their very lives. The enemy gave chase. This young man ran hard and fast, full of fear and desperation, soon found himself cut off from his comrades in arms. He eventually came upon a rocky ledge containing a cave. knowing the enemy was close behind, and that he was exhausted from the chase, chose to hide there.
After he crawled in, he fell to his face in the darkness, desperately crying to God to save him and protect him from his enemies. He also made a bargain with God, one which I (and perhaps you too?) have made before.
He promised that if God saved him, he would serve Him for the remainder of his days. When he looked up from his despairing plea for help, he saw a spider beginning to weave its web at the entrance to the cave. As he watched the delicate threads being slowly drawn across the mouth of the cave, the young soldier pondered its irony. He thought, “I asked God for protection and deliverance, and he sent me a spider instead. How can a spider save me?”
His heart was hardened, knowing the enemy would soon discover his hiding place and kill him. And soon he did hear the sound of his enemies, who were now scouring the area looking for those in hiding. One soldier with a gun slowly walked up to the cave’s entrance. As the young man crouched in the darkness, hoping to surprise the enemy in a last-minute desperate
attempt to save his own life, he felt his heart pounding wildly out of control.
As the enemy cautiously moved forward to enter the cave, he came upon the spider’s web, which by now was completely strung across the opening. He backed away and called out to a comrade, “There can’t be anyone in here. They would have had to break this spider’s web to enter the cave. Let’s move on.”
Years later, this young man, who made good his promise by becoming a
preacher and evangelist, wrote about that ordeal. What he observed has
stood by me in times of trouble, especially during those times when
everything seemed impossible. He wrote: “Where God is, a spider’s web
is as a stone wall. Where God is not, a stone wall is as a spider’s web.”
Back again
May 4, 2007 by chong85yesterday, was a normal day for me and something bad happen to me and it turn good after that. I thank God for always around me, turning all the bad things to good. I know it is you Jesus!!!
Early in the morning as i was going back to camp (national service), my bag strip broke as i was running and i could not carry anymore around me body. I am not worried, and i know God will help. So i carried in my hand with another hand carrying the laptop unto the bus. As the bus was crowded i have to stand beside the driver.
after a while, i found that the driver was finding something in her wallet. i am not sure what is she finding, but i thought to myself:” Why don’t you concentrate on driving and find the things later.” Suddenly she offered to help me fix my bag. I was shocked to realise that she has taken out two safety pin, willing to help me fix my bag. Thanks God. if it was not her, i don’t know how i am going to carry my bag to meet my business partner after work. I also realise that there are still caring people around in the world, which is something i am please to know…
Other incident happen at night. after i decided to leave the auditorium to rush to another place to teach tuition. i forget to bring my laptop case (with laptop inside) out. As i was walking along the corridor, i suddenly thought:” Since i was early and not many people in the bookshop, i can go and check what happen to the disc that i bought sometime ago.” When i played the disc from my laptop, the is picture, but no sound. So i when to check, but it is ok at the bookshop. To avoid embrassment, i remarked:” i think because the computer i use to play the disc is not compartable to the programme inside the disc.” Because of this remark, i remembered that i leave my bag inside the auditorium and quickly go back to get it. If not for god, i would have to go back and get it even if i found out when i reach home.
Always Thank God that if something good or bad happen to you. Because he can turn bad situation around. Don’t think that you are lucky when something happen to you and complain to God when something bad happen to you. If that’s the case then you will live in misery all the time.
good things yesterday
April 13, 2007 by chong85yesterday, i suppose to meet one of my prospect at 3pm, but it rained heavily at bedok at 1pm. Then i thought to myself: “the prospect may not turn up due to the heavy rain”. Then another voice inside me say:” now rain later will be sunny, coz the rain will finish by 3″.
To my surprise, the rain stopped at 3pm, and it was really sunny. The prospect turn up and we have a good chat.
This shows that inside each of us there is always two types of voices. the positive one and the negative one. Always reject ALL the negative voices because it will bring you down and depress, but the negative voices may not always be true, so why start worrying when it does not happen yet? Even if it happen, there will always be a solution…
so start rejecting ALL the negative voices in your mind today. Embrace in the Positive voices and you will be happier and good things will attract to you!!!
how i am blessed today
April 10, 2007 by chong85today i met a lady who owns a cafe and seminar room. She is very friendly and intended to support me for my workshop. Thank God that nothing big injury happen to you. Even if that there are something bad happen, thank God that He want you to learn something
And tomorrow morning, thank god that you wake up, coz you know some may not wake up in the morning. As you were on the road smile to people and talk a little more to people you know. Care more about them, find out what they are doing. Cause God put you there for a purpose. maybe to show care for the person, maybe to comfort the person, or maybe to encourage the person you meet.
so care for people wherever you go and you will find happiness because you know you are here for a purpose…
